So here we are. In our 40s or 50s… You already dated a lot, maybe you got married… once… twice… maybe you had a kid or two. Or maybe you have been waiting to meet your perfect match for years but so far just fun.. and disappointments.
The point is, at our age, at our decade, we have already tried a lot of scenarios. Being single, being someone’s girlfriend or boyfriend, wife or husband, single again. You’ve learnt to share a small closet but also learnt to craft compelling dating‑app profiles and chats and first dates. Again. And again. And again.
And now, after so many changes of legal status and door keys, not many of us are still trying to find a prince or a princess. Not many of us are trying to find someone to share the fridge and bathroom with. At this point some of us don’t even want to meet anyone’s family.
But we’re still (a little bit) romantic. And above all, we still have needs – oh yes, oh yes, yes yes… yessss… And that straightforward idea of meeting quickly for fun and no real conversation or connection might work a couple of times but doesn’t feed our soul. We want simple pleasures but we also want intimacy, growing pleasure, new experiences and sometimes, why not, we want the experience of having a relationship: the spooning, a movie night, holding hands and even sharing the bathroom – for a couple of hours, no more.
The Sunday Boyfriend (or girlfriend) is that person. More than a one‑night stand. No less than a boyfriend or a girlfriend… for a day or a night.. often weekly.
And yes, we know, the week has seven days 😛
It’s an easy way to take the pressure off and start seeing someone (or someones) with low expectations and high possibilities. It could be a temporary solution or a lifestyle.
So let’s talk about it. Let’s share stories. Let’s date 🙂 weekly?
